Secondary Cycle

    • The second cycle of education (secondo ciclo d'istruzione or scuola secondaria di secondo grado) lasts 5 years. It is divided into high school (licei), technical institutes (istituti tecnici), and professional institutes (istituti professionali).
    • The cycle ends with an exam (esame per il diploma di maturità) to award the high school diploma needed to access post high-school education.
