Shared Management of Urban Commons

In 2018, the Municipality of Milan introduced a Regulation on the Collaboration among Citizens and Administration for a Shared Management of Urban Commons.

Based on the principle that people carry capabilities and not only needs, collaborative agreements allow citizens to offer their contributions to the community in finding solutions to issues of common interest, in alliance with the government.

Since then, several projects have blossomed which saw citizens engage in practices of bottom-up regeneration, revitalization, and renovation of public spaces, and urban gardening.

See what has already been done and how to submit a proposal.

Public Consultations

The Milan City Council periodically promotes public consultations to gather the views and contributions of citizens and stakeholders on major urban policies or the adoption of specific measures. All European citizens are welcome to join. Find out more.
